IMD - Proliant 800

Does anyone have installation instuctions/or know how to add an IMD display to a Proliant 800?

Please check the server i suppoer there is no option for imd i am not sure are u refering to pl 800 only.

Hi,
Yes this is the server I am refering to, It is a pIII 500Mhz version (upgraded from pII 350e).

The server has the same mounting for the IMD as does the PL1200 or 1600 (so one will fit physically) but I am not sure that there are any connections for the harness.

i also found the reference to the IMD in the maintenance and service guide.

Multiple Ways of Viewing the Log
You can view an event in the IML in several ways:
_ On the Integrated Management Display
_ From within Compaq Insight Manager
_ From within Compaq Survey Utility
_ From within IML Management Utility

Integrated Management Display

The Integrated Management Display is a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) panel that presents
information directly at the server, assisting in diagnosing and servicing the server without a
keyboard and monitor.

Hi Chris,

The IMD isn't listed as an option for the Proliant 800 which suggests that the I/O module doesn't have support code for the display.

I recently swapped a Proliant 1600 I/O module for a Proliant 800 I/O module on my PL1600 chassis to test it for someone (They share the same Processor cage) and the IMD only displayed the firmware version at POST (which comes from the chip on the IMD).

The PL1600 however goes through POST displaying video, PCI etc. etc. I had the latest BIOS on the PL800 I/O module so I think I'm right but someone else might know different.
