IO rom error
We have 4 ML530's with the same problem. (8121FF11100, 8121FF11103, 8121FFL11112, 8121FF11113)
Just before the installation of the system partition we got an error message 'IO ROM error 101'. After updating the bios, the raid 5300 firmware, running system erase and running Smartstart 5.0 again, nothing changed.
We got the system running after removal of the Compaq NIC's. If we install the NIC's after installation of the system partition, everything seems to be OK.
Now the problem is that our customer wanted to install a different OS and has run a system erase...

Re: IO rom error
The problem has to due with the firmware in the 5300 array controller and only happens when one or more other PCI cards are installed. The resolution is as follows:
The problem is corrected by upgrading to Compaq Smart Array 5300 Controller Firmware Version 1.74 (or later), which is available in Compaq Options ROMPaq for Array Controllers Version 3.03 as SoftPaq SP16371
