IPMI + iLO; no lan channels available

Hi all,
Have a couple op DL585 G5 and G6 machines, running RedHat RHEL 5.4.
On the machines that will run Oracle 11gR2, I need to configure IPMI (for fencing)

"ipmitool bmc info" shows the iLO interface (deviceID, Firmware, manufracturer etc). However, running "ipmitool lan print" will show (for ALL of the channels) "Channel n is not a LAN channel" - so I'm not able to configure ipaddress and other network specifications on any of the channels.

Lots of information available, but only concerning the ipmi configuration when/after a LAN channel is available.

There seems nothing to be configured in the iLO interface, however I think I have to enable *something* on a lower level than the IPMI config..

So, how to enable a LAN channel? Ideas are very welcome.

The iLO 2 management controller supports host-based IPMI, but not IPMI-over-LAN. I suspect that's why you're unable to configure the LAN channel.
