IRQ for NIC keeps getting knocked off
The following cards are inserted in my Proliant 5500:
ISA/PCI SLOT 1 - Empty
PCI Slot 2 - Netelligent 10/100TX PCI UTP Controller
PCI Slot 3 - Compaq Smart Array 3200 Controller
PCI Slot 4 - Compaq Smart Array 3200 Controller
PCI Slot 5 - Compaq Smart Array 3200 Controller
PCI Slot 6 - Compaq Smart Array 3200 Controller
PCI Slot 7 - Empty
Problem:
All devices have their IRQ's LOCKED. When I goto insert another 3200 controller in either SLOT 1 or SLOT 7, the system configuration recognises this and allows me to save the configuration with the new card inserted, no problem. However, when I get into NT, I find that NT can no longer see the NIC. I shutdown and restart to access the F10 System Configuration and although the NIC card is physically in the server, it reports it as having been removed!! Has anyone seen this problem before? Essentially, what I'm seeing is that the NIC keeps getting knocked off when an additional array controller is added into either SLOT1 or SLOT7.

Re: IRQ for NIC keeps getting knocked off
This may save you a lot of time booting and moving cards
http://www.compaq.com/partners/microsoft/resourcepaq/utilities/pci5500.html
try ditching one of your 3200 array contrllrs and getting a 4200 this'll save you one pci slot, and you can still devide the array channels ok.
cheque in the post?
