Re: IS THE HP DL385 OR DL585 64-BIT

Easiest way to find this information is to use the HP Product Bulletin, which lists both the 385 and 585 as using the AMD Opteron processor.

AMD's own website lists the Opteron as a 64bit processor, so yes it is a 64 bit processor.

Re: IS THE HP DL385 OR DL585 64-BIT

I'm also not sure if the Single Core CPU's are 64-Bit or just the Dual core????? HP dosn't list that these are 64-Bit ANYWHERE like the do with all of the New G4 DL380's / ML570's it's right in the quick specs as a " 64-BIT CPU " that is what makes me wonder and when I called HP tech help line they couldn't give me a straight answer either...

Re: IS THE HP DL385 OR DL585 64-BIT

Jim,

According to the OS support matrices, 64-bit operating systems are supported on both the DL385 and DL585, so that would indicate that all of the Opteron chipsets in these servers support 64-bit. It doesn't matter if they're single-core or dual-core.

Re: IS THE HP DL385 OR DL585 64-BIT

Jim, the processors are listed as AMD Opteron, which is AMD's 64 bit Server line of Processors. If the quickspecs say they use opteron, and according to SGunelius both support 64bit Operating Systems, then the procs are 64bit. It won't matter if they are single or dual core.
