Identifying Proliant DL380 G3 Temperature Sensors?
Hello,
Can anyone point me to the right direction where to find the specifications/explaination of the temperature sensors of a DL380 G3 server?
There are 5 sensors but I cannot find the exact explaination of what part they 'sense'.
Sensor Location
1 CPU
2 CPU
3 IO Board
4 CPU
5 Power Supply
Sensor 4 skyrocketed but is now repaired (hardware changed) but what is sensor 4 in this case??
Best regards,
Arian van der Pijl

Re: Identifying Proliant DL380 G3 Temperature Sensors?
There are complex airflow patterns going on inside the chassis. The sensors are strategically located to measure the heat from a particular source. Your sensor #4 probably spiked due to some airflow blockage.

Thanks for your reply.
Strangely it occurred on a new server installing Windows 2003 SP1 and a process hung on 100% CPU and immediately the shutdown command appeared.
Sensor 4 was max at 74Celcius and stayed there. Fans were blowing max...
So I wandered where sensor 4 is exactly located because the mainbord and a cpu was replaced.
