In new hard drive existing RAID configured but Disk Management shows unallocated space

Hi,

I am using HP DL380P G8 server, OS window 2008R2. I have already RAID 5 configured in drive with (600GB*4) 1.63 TB space but i need to extend my D drive. So i used HP Array configuration utility tool by which in array i can see my lgical drive space is 2.7TB in HP Array configuration utility tool. But when i open disk management i found my previos space 1.63 TB and rest as a unallocated space. Itried to extend volume but it is grayout.

I can not format my D drive or convert it into dynamic disk.

Please help me out how can i extend volume.

Re: In new hard drive existing RAID configured but Disk Management shows unallocated space

Hi Ankit,

As mentioned, the extended size is reflected in ACU but from disk management, you are able to extended array size as unallocated space. To get the unallocated space added into the existing volume, please follow the instructions available at https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/mghazai/2009/02/24/extend-systemboot-volume-on-windows-server-2008-windows-vistawin7-beta/.

In case if there are challenges, please share the screenshots from ACU and disk management.

NOTE: Data integrity is customer responsibility. HPE recommends to have data backup frequently and before performing any activity so that it can be restored during disaster recovery.
