Inaccessible boot device!

Help! I've reseated all the drives and powered it off and back on several times now. Still get BSOD with Inaccessible_Boot_Device error. Not sure where to go from here.
Thank you,

Re: Inaccessible boot device!

hi

server model?

did you try get into windows in safe mode?

what about the LEDs on HDDs?

how many HDDs do you have and RAID level?

do you have the smartstart CD? to run a diagnose on the HDDs?

Re: Inaccessible boot device!

Sorry about the lack of info. I was so wrapped up in what's going on I forgot to include it! DUH.
Anyway, it's a Proliant ML530 running W2K. It has Raid 1 and a Raid 5 configuration. I cannot boot in Safe mode either, get the BSOD with the same error. Have tried to reseat all the drives, no effect. Tried a different HD (9 Gig) and during the reboot process was prompted for an F1 or F2 (to rebuild or not) I chose to rebuild, but still it went to BSOD. Though the drive light was blinking like it WAS rebuilding so with it finished blinking, I powered off and back on again, still BSOD. Although, really, how am I to know which drive is actually bad if they all have green lights on them?
No new hardware or configuration made on this serve in quite some time.
Hope I answered all your questions! My boss says go home for the night, we'll look at it tomorrow (that hardly EVER happens!).
I'll check back tomorrow . . . .
Thanks so much for responding so quickly!

Re: Inaccessible boot device!

hi

press F2 when you use 9 GB HDD

and also try just boot the server with the RAID 1 (both HDDs) What I think has the OS?
try with both HDDs and try also with just 1 HDD (it's a RAID 1)

the idea of using Smartstart CD is to try get into insight diagnostic and check HDDs integrity

Re: Inaccessible boot device!

Hi Karlo,
My boss has opted to reinstall the OS and rebuild the Raid1. Wish us luck! Thanks for everything,

Re: Inaccessible boot device!

It's back up and running as we speak. All that's left to do is the file restore to the C:\ partition.
Next time maybe not so lucky!
Thanks again,
Kelly
