Darren:

Have you re-seated the Processor Power Modules (a.k.a VRM) for each processor?

If you have, you may have one that is failed.

Have you re-run the System Configuration Utility on the server?

Let em know what you find. -john

Thanks for your prompt response but ,
I've already reseated the power modules- and unable run the configuration due to the processor being inoperable.

Have you any further ideas?

Re: Incorrect Slot for processor message on proliant 1850r

Pull the processor and VRM from Socket 2 and boot. Does the system boot? If so, replace the VRM for processor 1 and see if it will boot? If not, you have a bad VRM. If so, replace the CPU... if no boot, you have a bad CPU.
If they both test out good, you may just have a bad Mainboard.

Alternatively, you can pull any PCI boards out of the system to reduct the chance they are causing the problem.

As soon as you can get it to boot correctly, with even one processor, I recommend you run the SCU and save the configuration.
Enjoy!
