They're the 74GB 10K drives but it looks like all varieties of the hot-swap U320s have the same indicators on front.
Thanks.

Solutionit depends on the connected controller, but usually the arrow indicates activity and the disk symbol in the middle is off if the disk is not configured to an array.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Indicator lights on HP U320 hot-swap drives
Thanks for the explanation. It's a 5i controller and they're newly installed and not configured yet. Now it makes sense why the indicators are off.

Re: Indicator lights on HP U320 hot-swap drives
Green Arrow = Drive Access
Green Cylinder = Online
Amber Cylinder with X = Drive Failure
they are 9 possible combinations for this diodes.
if the arrow is green and the others are off is because the hdd is ok but is not part of an array

Re: Indicator lights on HP U320 hot-swap drives
I tried to RTFM but I couldn't find the FM in any of HP's documents - that's why I asked for a link.

I knew what RTFM was, but I confess that I had to Google PEBKAC.
No worries. His profile IS funny!
