"Processor initialized at 333 Mhz with 512 Kbyte Cache
Processor initialized at 333 Mhz with 512 Kbyte Cache
Unsupported Processor Detected
System Halted"
The part numbers are the same on both boards (149085-001 / 007860-000) are the same although there are different barcodes;
P118BOM25HB9E1 vs P118BOM25GUBKM
The VRMs have the same bar codes, although the capacitor colours are not the same.
If I matched the part numbers properly, where did I go wrong?

SolutionJust in case the firmware on the CD was incorrect or did not load, try downloading the firmware update diskette instead.

Re: Inserted Second 333 Mhz Processor > Unsupported?
Comparing the two processor casings;
original: 80523PX333512 SL2S5 Y8260140-0329
new: 80523PX333512PE SL2TV Y8470381-0221
I'm not sure about the server model and BIOS and don't know how to retrieve that information. Whilst booting, I read "COMPAQ System BIOS - E39 (04/06/1998)".
How do I enter the BIOS? Do I need to download a floppy image to do that?

Re: Inserted Second 333 Mhz Processor > Unsupported?
Yes, you need to run the System Configuration Utility (SCU) from Smartstart or diskette and save the changes which are recognised by the system.
Note: The oldest CPU should be in slot1 (CPU1).
Once the changes have been saved the 178 error will disappear. Use Smartstart if you have it (Version 5.50 or below for older Proliants) or use the diskette based SCU (4 floppy disks needed).
