Instalacion de windows 2003 standard sobre servidor proliant 5800

ok,tengo un servidor compaq proliant 5800 con 4 cpus.
Podria instalar un windows 2003 standard ? . ¿ tendria algun problema ?

Hello

You have 2 options to install the server

1) using Compatible Smart Start CD
2) Manual installation using O/S CD.

Can you please confirm the server model

Proliant 5800 does not exist, it can be a Proliant 5500 or a DL580. Confirm model first, as Windows 2003 is not supported on the old Proliants.

That's better. Windows Server 2003 is supported on this server, but not Standard Edition.

what's the difference between windows 2003 and windows standard edition ?

Windows Server 2003 is sold in 6 different versions: Web, Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter, Storage Server and SBS.
Each has different features and hardware limits.
Windows 2003 Standard supports 4 CPUs and 4 GB of RAM, so it could run on that server, but it does not appear as certified by HP for that server (don't ask me why), only Windows 2003 Enterprise.
