Install Additional Hard Disk to Proliant DL380 G3

I am running a Raid1 configuration (two drive set up) that is running just fine. I need to add a separate hard disk for additional storage. This is a production server so I don't want to just pop it in and hope.

I don't need to add this to the raid setup.

What steps do I need to take

Hello,

Pop the disk into a free slot. This can be
done online the raid controller supports this. Then run the ACU online from windows or
offline from Smartstart. You will see the drive then following instructions create a logical dive.

You can just "pop" it into one of the bays.

Running Windows? Just open up ACU and configure the drive. Once configured (Array B, 1 Logical Drive RAID0), return to the Windows Disk Administrator and initialize and format the new drive. You may need to do a rescan.

Running Linux? Run the ACU somehow (not sure how things work exactly in linux), do a scan and you should be able to format the drive and use.

The solution provide by the two inputs were what I needed to know. I was sure that was the way to proceed, however, I wanted to be absolutely sure and the inputs were right on. Thanks.
