Re: Install Windows 2003 on a ML110 G4 without floppy disk

The only way to do it is to take the driver for the storage controller and make a custom windows server 2003 cd.

Here is Microsoft's article on how to do it:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/254078

The only other way is to get a USB Floppy drive, one that is compatible. A list of compatible drives is here:

Re: Install Windows 2003 on a ML110 G4 without floppy disk

The workaround I used for the ML110 G3 was to use a USB floppy drive and then in BIOS make sure the USB device was defined as a floppy drive.

I was not able to make it work any other way, unfortunately the Windows installer seems to support only floppy drives to load 3rd party drivers (in my experience).

I have heard other people suggest using a CD-ROM or USB drive to load the drivers but I have not been able to do this.

Thanks for replies, but this ML110 G4 has the same setup menu ?.

I've been reviewing the options and I can't find were to switch the usb mode to appear as a floppy disk

My memory is hazy but I believe in the boot order you can specify a USB device and under that you can define what kind of USB device it is.

Thanks anyway.

There is no such option. Even my USB is reconigzed a boot device, I can't set any other configuration there.

It would be great if there is another idea to go around this limitation.

Ok one last thing I remember doing was I used one of the internal USB ports on the system board and not the ones on the front panel.

I can't remember why I did this but it worked for me.
