Installation NT4 Server - Hardware support disk

Hi, When I install NT4 Server the system ask me if I want to add SCSI devices. If I answer no the system told me that there is no hard disk found and if I say yes the system asked me to install the "Manufacturer-supplied hardware support disk". I have 5 hard disk in RAID5 made by the SmartSmart for Servers release 5.30. The SCSI RAID controller is a 431 one channel. Before we had a 5300 in this server but we switch the controler to another server. The question is where should I find the "Manufacturer-supplied hardware support disk"? thank you. Regards, JM

Hello JM,
During the manual installation of OS you'r asked to specify mass storage drivers for the deivce which is diskette no 2 of Compoaq Support Software and can be made with Smart Start CD you have or you can download Support Paq from our Website. If you need further assistance please do not hesitate to contact our Technical Support at 1-800-652-6672.

I also have a problem when trying to upgrade an ML 330 server to Windows 2000. Where do I find the scsi driver to install the scsi device located on the server feature board?

Re: Installation NT4 Server - Hardware support disk

Chris,

The ML330 G1 uses a Symbios logic 53C895a chipset. The Windows 2000 driver kit for this can be downloaded from this link.

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/17320.html

Copy the file(CP003193.EXE)and execute it. Choose "Extract" from the splash screen and save the extracted files to a convenient directory (C:\TEMP) for example. Insert a blank floppy disk and run the FLOPPY.BAT batch file.
Have a look at the README.TXT file for using this floppy to load the SCSI driver during the Windows 2000 installation using the F6 key.

All other drivers for the ML330 G1 running Windows 2000 can be loaded from the following link.

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/20_1118.html

If its not a G1 then pick the right model and O/S from the following link to get the correct driver kit.

I hope this helps,

Brian

Go to this site below and find your model of server and locate the drivers. I'm not sure whether you have a G1 G2 or G3 server.
When you download the file double-click on it and you will have the option to either "install" or 'extract" . Chose extract, and point it to the floppy disk. This will create your "manufacturer supplied disk". Follow the instructions at the download site to specify the driver.
