Installation hangs of sql 6.5 with 2Gb memory but works with 1gb of memory

Hi everyone, Can someone please help me.
I work for a state agency and we have old software.
I have a Compaq ML570 system and when I tried to install SQL 6.5 with 2 GB ram it just hung and failked to install. Im running NT 4.0 Server with Service pak 4.0
But when I switched memory to 1 GB ram it installed perfectly...
Does anyone out there know why? What's wrong, or any suggestions...
