When I try to install Redhat 7.1 it crashes after the SCSI driver attempts to install with either a signal 4 or signal 11 error. This server has the onboard Wide Ultra 3 SCSI controller and three drives. Everything worked fine under Windows NT so I assume there are no defects in the hardware. Any ideas?

Read the following from Redhat's website:

Signal 11s and signal 7s are errors indicating a hardware problem in memory or on the bus. They can occur because there are problems with executables or with the system's hardware itself. The Linux kernel utilizes more capability from the CPU, Cache, and memory, and is prone to fault on marginal hardware.

The first thing to do is check to see if you have the latest installation image from Red Hat Inc. Check the errata for updates and also the FTP site to see if a more recent version is available. If the latest images still fail, it may be due to hardware. Common suspects are memory or CPU-cache. Try turning off the CPU-cache in the BIOS and see if the problem goes away. Also, try swapping memory around in the motherboard slots to see whether the error is slot or memory related.
