Installed video card on Proliant 1850R

Hello,

I have a Proliant 1850R. The video capabilities of the embedded adapter are very limited so I installed a 32MB video adapter.

I am running RedHat Enterprise Linux ES 4
I cannot seem to get the installed adapter to work. I can see text but no graphics. Is a 32MB video adapter beyond the capacity of this server?

With the embedded adapter, I could see graphics and I know the installed adapter is a common video adapter for Linux.

I think I need to allocate more system resources to the adapter but I do not see a way to do that in the System Configuration Utility.

Any ideas?

You can disable Video on board

You can run F10 Updates; it will assign all Automatically, at system configuration.

sound like you need right driver for 32MB adapter

Yes, sounds like a driver issue not a server issue. Use a more modern video board that supports Linux.

Which slot do you have the adapter installed in? To get the best chance of getting it to work correctly, make sure the adapter is installed in slot 1.
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..
