Installing Debian on a Proliant 6500?

I recently acquired a Proliant 6500 from somebody via Freecycle (http://www.freecycle.org), who in turn found it by other means - I can't remember if it was left behind by a former tenant of the office she occupies or was in a dumpster.

All this said, the machine was stripped clean of everything except for 128 MB of RAM, a 2-port NIC, and a PPro 200/66. It works, and it boots from floppy - sort of.

Therein lies my problem.

I'm attempting to install Debian Stable ("woody") on this machine, but the problem I'm running into is that the system will simply do nothing after loading the linux.bin file from the rescue floppy, and happily do nothing for me. Are there any suggestions I can use to work around this problem and hopefully get a working install of Linux on this server?

proliant 6500 has pentium pro,i am not sure if linux works on this.i would suggest to update the ROMBIOS.

It should - there are many reports of Linux working on a PPro.

That said, is there a Linux version of the BIOS update you sent me? Noting I have no Microsoft whatever around here....
