Installing NT4 on a dl380g3

I am trying to install NT 4 on a dl380 g3 and I can't get it to see the cd-rom. It will see the cd-rom and I can browse cd's in Server 03 (which is currently installed) but it won't boot to it. I have tried installing several different scsi drivers during the boot floppy phase, but it won't find the cd-rom at the end. I have also tried different media, installed new bios, and I swapped the cd unit with another dl380g3 server. What's next? Does the cd use the same scsi controller as the hd array? Thanks.

Re: Installing NT4 on a dl380g3

When the server boots up, you need to press F9 and enter the RBSU.
Select System Setup
Select System Options
Select O/S Selection and set your server for Windows NT
Now select Standard Boot Order (IPL)
Select your CD-ROM as the first device
Save and Exit
Reboot and now try to use your NT CD-ROM

Let us know if this does not help.

G'luck! -john

btw, here is the RBSU Users Guide:

Enjoy!

Re: Installing NT4 on a dl380g3

Remove any PCI cards that you might have; clear your NVRAM from the RBSU; that should reset your boot controller order and the standard boot order. Try and boot off a smart start CD to test if it boots from it.
If you are using the Boot floppies, after you specify the controller driver specify the CDROM driver; it should be part of the NT controller list - IDE ATAPI CD-ROM Controller.
There’s your problem!!! This thing is set to EVIL!
