Installing RH ES3 on a DL580

I'm trying to install Red Hat ES 3 on a DL580. I am using an array of 3 15K 18.2Gb disks attached to the embedded controller. This installation will balk at the disk partitioning piece, saying that there is no "/dev/sda" device. If I click the continue button a couple of times, it will eventually recognize the disk as "/dev/cciss/c0d0", will appropriately partition the disk and identify it as the boot device. From here the installation runs without trouble. However, the system doesn't boot after the installation. Instead I get a disk error message and the system halts. I have tried telling the installation to put the boot info in the first sector of "/dev/cciss/c0d0" but that doesn't make any difference. Any ideas what's happening? Thanks.

Re: Installing RH ES3 on a DL580

What DL580, G1 or G2? Are you using the original release of RHEL 3 ES or Update 2? Also, what is the exact error message you see after rebooting?
