Installing RHEL 5 on DL180 G6. Hung when formatting disk.

Hello,

I am having issues when installing a RHEL 5 in a DL180 G6 server. When the installation is trying to format the disk, it just hung forever. It does not matter disk (I have changed it). I only have a SATA disk. I have changed the disk slot with no luck.

Any idea about the reason and possible solution?.

RHEL5 which update are you trying to install.
try updating the firmware.

did u change the hard disk or the RHEL OS dvd ?

Hello,

Changed disk. Same thing.
Changed DVD. Same thing.
Try to patch firmware. The update found no card, so I could not update it.

So, unless I change the controller -and it is on the board-, no way out.

What is the update version you are trying to install. try rhel 5 update 2.

As per the hardware compatibility matrix DL180 G6 is still not listed.

Tried releases 2, 3 and 4. With different disks.

This starts to smell bad.....
