Installing Windows 2003 on a Proliant DL360 Generation 1 server

I have a SmartStart CD 5.5, but it does not have an option to install Windows 20003 server. What is the best option to build DL360 Generation 1 server using Windows 20003 server as an OS.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Did the same thing about 3 weeks ago.
Scrap the smartstart and just boot off the server 2003 cd. It even had the netraid driver ;)

Using SmartStart 5.5 choose a manual install. Then select Win2k as your OS. When it asks for the cd pop-in your Win2k3 and off you go. Once you are up and running install snmp and then install PSP7.3.

Re: Installing Windows 2003 on a Proliant DL360 Generation 1 server

This morning, I tried to install Windows 2003 using the following options:

Tried using SmartStart using Manual configuration; then selected W2K/Other. However, every time I am asked to insert the OS CD, comes back with non system disk or disk error. I tested the CD and it is a bootable CD.

Please advise

Thank you

Adam,
Be sure to configure the array (being a 360 you will likely use RAID1). Also, be sure to set your boot controller. After that you should be good to go.

If it still fails you can download the Integrated Smart Array Driver here:

http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/storage/us/download/17777.html

And then copy this to a floppy and boot off the Win2k3 cd. Press F6 to provide alternate driver, load floppy, proceed with base OS install.

Once it is up and running, install SNMP via add/remove programs in windows. Then load the PSP 7.3 drivers found here:

There isn't an option for W2k/Other. Windows 2000 needs to be selected, not other. If other is selected the server will not boot to Windows.
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..
