Installing Windows Server 2008 on ML 350 G5 with Smart Array e200i

I've read posts that allude to the problem I am having but have not seen any concise solutions.

I'm trying to use SmartStart 8.0 to install WinServ2008 on an ML 350 G5 system that has the SmartArray e200i controller configured for RAID 5. I cannot get past the Hardware Configuration screen even though the array shows (in ACU) as configured correctly for RAID 5. The Boot Controller Disk Size in the Hardware Configuration Screen shows as -1 MB and the Continue button does nothing.

A suggestion I read was to bypass SmartStart and install by providing the controller driver during installation. I have no idea how to start that installation as there is nothing on the machine to boot to and the Windows Server 2008 DVD does not boot the machine.

Any help on getting me going in the right direction is greatly appreciated,

Memo to self: A DVD will not boot a machine from a CD drive no matter how many times you try...

Sorry for wasting anyone's time,
