Installing Windows Xp on Proliant DL360 Server

I'm trying to install Windows XP home and pro on my Compaq Proliant DL360 server, or seeing if it's even possible.

When I try, I get an error stating that Windows cannot find the harddrive. This isn't the case for Win 2k and 2k3. It has the Integrated Smart Array Controller.

Does anyone know a way around this? I noticed that XP is not supported.

Thanks

I have never installed XP on a server before, however I believe when you run Smart Start, under choose operating system, you can select OTHER.

Buck:

You probably have to manually supply the SMart Array controller driver suring the textmode set up.

Grab the driver, put it on a floppy and run the xp setup. At the very beginning, hit F6 to specify additional Mass Storage Devices.

WIn2k and 2k3 have built in drivers for the Smart Array so manual intervention is not needed.

I successfully installed Windows XP Professional on a SCSI-based Proliant DL360 G4p yesterday using the drivers found at http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/23379.html?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
