Installing a second network card disables the built in card
Hi, I am currently trying to add a second network card to a Proliant 800 to connect the network to the internet, but when I install it it disables the onboard card, nothing happens when I plug a different cable in.
Removing the second card enables the built in card again, i've also tried it in 3 different slows with the same result.
I have also run the System Config floppy disks which detect the second card and says that BOTH cards are enabled.
When I look at lsmod the tlan module is set to unused when the second card is installed. I can use the second card perfectly, I just can't use the other at the same time.
The server is running Slackware 10 and detects the new card (Realtek 8029AS), this will be linked to a broadband connection when it is installed and have squid & squidGuard running.
I'm I missing a jumper or setting somewhere, I DON'T have a SmartStart CD so im using the floppy disks.

Re: Installing a second network card disables the built in card
Has anyone got any idea why this is happening, am I missing a jumper somewhere?
Thanks
