Installing an SA E200 controller in the DL140 G3

Has anyone installed the Smart Array E200 controller in the DL140G3 or ML150G3 ? This option has appeared on quickspecks, however there are no footnotes on the use of the card. Can anyone confirm if this can only be used with the Hot Swap models of the DL140G3 and ML150G3 ?

E200 or E200i used widely in the newer servers, depend from server design it does support Hot Plug and None Hot-Plug hard drives.

Re: Installing an SA E200 controller in the DL140 G3

Those links seem to be down, and doesn't really answer the question.

I have a customer who has purchased the E200 pci card and installed it into the NHP DL140G3 and does not have the right cable to connect it to the drives. I have searched the Server Manuals and Quickspecs, but can not find detailed info on the cable matrix for this server.

Re: Installing an SA E200 controller in the DL140 G3

hi

check this for the ML150 g3. it really says this:

Hot plug models - e200

HP SAS/SATA 4 in 1 to 4 in Cable
NOTE: This cable is required when adding either the HP 8 Internal Port SAS HBA with RAID or the HP Smart Array E200 on a hot-plug SATA model or SC44GE HBA.

38160-B21

and Non Hot Plug - E200
HP Internal SAS/SATA 4-Port Cable
NOTE: This cable is required when adding either the HP 8 Internal Port SAS HBA with RAID or the HP Smart Array E200 on a non hot-plug SATA model

430479-B21
but for the Dl140 G3 it has been really hard for me find something

and of course:
HP Smart Array E200/128 BBWC Controller 411508-B21

from here: http://urlao.com/ml150g3

But...
for the DL140 the only cable is this:
HP SAS/SATA Host Cable Kit
NOTE: For use with Hot Plug SAS/SATA models. Required only when upgrading from a non-hot plug to a hot plug model.
389650-B21

which I not very happy with the description: http://urlao.com/dl140g3

let me see If can find something else about this cable

Regards

Thanks Karlo

I had worked out the ML150G3, most the info is in Quickspecs.

I think I have also worked out the NHP DL140G3.

You need to convet the chassis to HP, then apply the HP SAS/SATA kit, re-do a whole lot of cabling (which is in the user guide).

Re: Installing an SA E200 controller in the DL140 G3

sorry PN:

Hot Plug Backplane Option Kit 409348-B21
HP SAS/SATA Host Cable Kit 389650-B21

Link to manual
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00795598/c00795598.pdf

Also you will then need to purchase HP HDD's
