Do the the company separation and other changes in the support model, the embedded URL no longer functions and there is not a current URL that can be manually entered.

To update IP, use the links posted by Matouk to download and install the latest IP recovery image. If you use iLO, you don't need to create a USB key, just mount the ISO image in iLO virtual media

IP v1.x is for Gen8 systems and IP v2.x is for Gen9 systems. Use the revision history tab to access the latest version for your systems

So are we to assume that just because a new IP was released it will work? Has anyone tested the latest Version:2.50 (24 Oct 2016)

you can update IP also using HP SUM. obline or offline. need to find the link again.

Assume what will work? IP, or the update function?  Currently, the only way to update v1.x or 2.x of IP is to use the recovery media, the latest versions do not include a fixed online update.

I prepared an SPP 2016.10 USB stick with the bundle above and I hope I can test this in the next few days.

Hello Everyone,

I was encountering the same problem with my new DL380 Gen9 server not being able to contact the update server. I was on IP 2.40. 

I want to report back that the issue has been resolved, at least in my case, after upgrading to IP 2.50. On 2.40, neither DHCP nor static IP helped. Putting iLO onto the same network as my management didn't work either.

IP recovery 2.50 for Gen9 and 1.64b for Gen8's, both the latest and greatest are broken!

Niether will allow you to perform a Firmware Update from within IP. I have this is a closed System, with no access to the outside world. It "greys out" the Firmware Update section and you have to boot from an offline SPP kit to upgrade Firmware. Makes IP pretty useless!
