Is ML310 G3 Noisy?
Hello to All!
We plan to purchase ML310 G3 with SCSI for small office whith no dedicated computer room. Can anyone who has that server model advise whether noise level is acceptable for people working in the same room?
We recently installed ML350 G4p which noise level was relatively acceptable. Would be great if anyone had experience with both models and could compare noise levels.
Thanks!

Re: Is ML310 G3 Noisy?
310 noise level maybe for a bit higher than average PC, unless there some Problem, or system management driver not loaded
Before you buy one go to reseller ask them to power up one and boot from smart start CD, wait till driver loads and sound drops than you get actual noise level

Re: Is ML310 G3 Noisy?
Acoustic specifications are published on the QuickSpecs for each server: http://www.hp.com/servers/proliant
ML310G3:
Idle (Fixed Disk Drives Spinning)
L WAd (BELS) 5.7
L pAm (dBA) 40
Operating (Random Seeks to Fixed Disks)
L WAd (BELS) 5.7
L pAm (dBA) 40
ML350G4p:
Idle (Fixed Disk Drives Spinning)
L WAd (BELS) 6.0
L pAm (dBA) 43
Operating (Random Seeks to Fixed Disks)
L WAd (BELS) 6.0
L pAm (dBA) 43
...so it appears that the ML310G3 is slightly quieter (3dB) than the unit you find acceptable.
