I know for sure, it's not possible on older models.

I don't expect it to be possible on the G4 either - It should give you an interlock error.

Hello Michael2000,

There are sensors which track if the riser card is present/inserted properly in the slots. Any change in same activates the sensor and so your server wont boot up. So even if you havent plugged any add on cards to the riser card it has to be present in the server.
