So here is what I am working with
ML 350 G6, it has 8 SFF HD's in standard bay. I want to add an addtional 4 drives with the optional SFF bay. I have installed this cage and purchased the SAS Expander card Product No# 468406-B21 for the Smart Array p410i onboard raid controller. I installed this in slot 2 per the HP guide. The green LED is lit. I connect my backplace to ports 2-3 and boot into the RAID BIOS and it see's no drives. I check the PCI slots in the ProLiant BIOS and it doesn't show the SAS expander card in any of the PCI slots (not sure if it should)
I called HP India (I was so excited!!) and after 1.5hrs of talking to someone who was reading the same manuals I was they decided to send me a replacement card. I didnt think the card was an issue but it was really late so I just accepted the offer.
New card arrives, same **bleep** thing! I highly doubt I have two bad cards. I have two ML 350 G6's and both don't show the card.
I have some questions maybe someone can help me with, because HP's support couldn't answer anything (basically useless)
1. Should this card show as occupying a PCI slot in the ProLiant BIOS
2. Is this thing plug-n-play? Do I need to enable/configure anything for this expander card to be recongized? (I am dumbfounded how HP support couldn't answer this one)
Any help would be truly appreciated, this has been quite the headache!
Thanks!!

Re: Issues installing SAS Expander card on ML350 G6
hi,
Do you have a cache module for the controller, because the SAS expander can not work w/o it.
Thanks

Re: Issues installing SAS Expander card on ML350 G6
hi,
hmmm..., check in the vSphere client, but i'm not sure if you can find the info there.
The other way is to create an ACU report. You can check here how to do that:
