Issues installing cp006330.exe

I'm trying to upgrade the network configuration utility on a very old server to 8.40. I'm getting this error:

The software is not supported for installation on this system.

This installation has detected that one or more TLAN controllers are
installed in your system. TLAN controllers are not supported by this
utility and must be removed from your system before installation can be
performed.


Installation will not continue.

The operation was not successful.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem? The machine has only one active network adapter, and I've updated its driver. Obviously, there is also no team (although it may have had a team in the past).

If you look at the "Systems Supported" list for cp006330 at http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/networking/us/download/24242.html you'll see that there are no supported TLAN (TI-Compaq ThunderLAN chip from the early '90s) cards in the list...
