It is now safe to turn off your computer message on Compaq 1850r

I have installed windows 2000 server on the 1850R. When going to shut down the system I receive the message "It is no safe to turn of your computer" This is a dual processor (550 MHz) unit. The Hal shows MPS Muli. I have tried the MS Q article 810903. But there is no no "NT APM / Legacy Interface Node" option listed under the Non plug and play devices to configure as outlined in this article.

I have tried starting the server in safe mode thinking it may be a driver issue but the problem persists.

Is there anything else I can try. My goal is to just have it shut down automatically.
