Jumper settings Proliant 1600

Does anyone know where to find the jumpersettings sheet for the proliant 1600?
I want to replace a P3 550 mhz instead of the 500 mhz (dont ask why ;-))
the only url that i can find is a pdf file and goes till 500mhz.

Question 2. Can i still use the same processor power module?
Or do i need another one because im using a other processor?

You will need a to replace the original Processor Power Module and add another one for each processor in your server.

You will need Option Part Number 144003-B21 the Thermal Upgrade Kit to upgrade to the 550MHz processor.

Do not mix these processors!

Why do I need to have a new power module?
The old one is still working and the P500 does has the same power handling as the P550?

The upgrade documentation shows them as a diferent PPM...

Thank you for your help.
I have 4 more questions:

1.Wich PPM (partnr) must I have with a euro based server (230v)
2.Could you find me a partnumber for the Thermal option kit, and whats the sense of the kid?
4. What are prox. the cost of the PPM en the Thermal option Kit
4.I want to place the old P500 proc into an other PL1600 to run it multiproc.
Do i have to install the old PPM into that server to?

Answers:
1. I looked up the PPM using UK as the search base and found the same part numbers... so I guess they are the same.
2. You got that answered... cool
3. How much? I don't know... you would need to call the parts store and get the price + shipping.
4. If the processor in the other 1600 is also 500MHz and you move the 500MHz from this one... just migrate the PPM with the processor and you are good to go.

Just to add to Johns previous replies.

The PPM (327660-001) should only support up to 450Mhz CPU's. If you have a PIII 500Mhz CPU installed, you should already have the recommended PPM (329267-001). The easiest way to check is to remove the module and look at the white sticky label on it. It should read SP# 329267-001 (Spare Part Number).

The thermal kit consists of a better fan (130CFM) and a foam air baffle. The old fan isn't up to the job of pulling air through the system efficiently enough to cool the newer cpu(s), particularly in dual processor mode - due to the heat generated.
You can check for the old-style fan in the processor cage. It has a current rating of 0.49amps written on the sticky label. The new one is 0.80 amps I believe.

The foam air baffle fits to the lid of the processor cage and guides air properly past the CPU's and memory dimms. Without this combination of air baffle and fan your system will overheat and may get to the point where you see NMI Parity errors and erratic system behaviour. The thermal kit was a mandatory requirement for customers who wanted to upgrade. Without it they would invalidate their warranty.

The actual kit consists of different foam air baffles and fans for a number of Proliant models (PL800, PL1200, PL1600, PL2500) etc.

I have a spare thermal kit for the PL1600 (fan and baffle) which I know I won't need, so you can have it for free. Please get in touch with me at brian.murdoch@hp.com. I only have one kit so if you plan to upgrade any other systems you will have to purchase the kit.
