Kernel can't see scsi tape connected.

I'm having problem with installing a scsi tape drive. I have RedHat7.0. While booting, the SmartArray controller can see tape drive connected.
But the kernel reports scsi: hosts 0.
What can be done?

Re: Kernel can't see scsi tape connected.

first of all, you should not attach a tape device in your smart array controller, 'cause it'll cause terrible performance problems... well, did you try makedev command? usually it's not necessary, but you could try to add the new device by hand.

hope this helps
