2.Does this require a controller?
3.Does it plug in to the SATA board and how many plugs does it use?
4.Can i boot from this in RAID instead of the installed SAS?
5.Can i make this primary boot, with the installed SAS as secondary?
I can't find any documentation/videos on this option. Can someone send me some links?

Re: LFF 487936-B21 for ML350 G6 questions.
here is quickspec for your server:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13241_div/13241_div.HTML
to your questions:
1) up to 6 large form factor disks
2) yes - this is option, use can use either SFF or LFF drives
3) it comes as integrated part or replaces SFF cage
4) do not understad - I think you can replace/add array controller as well if your one is not ok.
5) Internal Drive Support:
Up to sixteen SFF (2.5") or eight LFF (3.5") Hot Plug Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) or Serial-ATA (SATA) hard drives or SATA SSD's
Maximum of 16TB of internal storage capacity
Could be usefull if you specify what you have and what you want...

Re: LFF 487936-B21 for ML350 G6 questions.
1. Is there any links for the part# above - 487936-B21. I'd like to read the installation manual or read the specs on that. Can someone send a link/post PDF?
2. If i understand, i can replace the current SFF and insert the LFF. Do I need a controller board for the LFF, or does it come with one? Does each SATA bay of the LFF plug into the MB SATA port of the server?
Thanks!

Re: LFF 487936-B21 for ML350 G6 questions.
1) manuals are available at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportManualтМй=en&cc=sk&docIndexId=64903&taskId=101&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3884315 , check HP ProLiant ML350 G6 Server Maintenance and Service Guide
2) cage should replace you SFF cage with all cables etc and will be connected to the same array controller as old one.

Re: LFF 487936-B21 for ML350 G6 questions.
will this part# 487936-B21 be used for both SAS or SATA?
If i connect it to the existing controller, it will be SAS.
Do i need a different backplane board to run in Hot Swap SATA? Can you send a view of the part# above? Or better yet, some documentation of the part# 487936-B21.

Re: LFF 487936-B21 for ML350 G6 questions.
Will the 2.5 SATA drive interface to the existing backplane board?
Do i have to make any changes on the hardware to install a SFF SATA drive?

Re: LFF 487936-B21 for ML350 G6 questions.
What I didn't know was that I could put SAS and SATA 2.5" in the same HOT SWAP SFF bay, and use the SAS in one array, and SATA in their own array.
I think it depends on the controller. I've got the P410i.
Thanks!
