Large memory wierdness
Greetings all,
just trying to get some confirmation here. A buddy of mine bought 3GB for one of his 3000's, but no matter what he does, the system will not see any more than 1GB. Tried switching components from other servers with the same results.
Here is my theory: When the 333 uprgrades were first available for the (then) existing 3000 product base, there were 2 systemboard rom chips that came with the kit. IF the dates on the onboard roms were older than a certain date, then the chips needed to be upgraded in order for the 333's to take full advantage of the 3GB capabilities of these boxes.
So, does anyone know what that date was, or perhaps have the part numbers for the upgrade chips?
Thanks,
LC

Re: Large memory wierdness
The part number for the 333MHZ that will handle 3GB of RAM is 333555-B21. This is dated back to August of 2000.
