Linux PSP 32bit & 64 bit DL585 G2

I wrongly used the 32bit PSP (i686)to upgrade my Proliant DL585 G2 instead of 64bit PSP(x86_64) under Linux 4
Can I re-install the 64 bit PSP into the server directly without unstall all 32 bit drivers first?
Will the OS corrupt if I still use the 32bit drivers under 64 bit Linux Kernel?

Re: Linux PSP 32bit & 64 bit DL585 G2

Yes, you can re-install the 64-bit PSP on the server directly without removing any of the files the 32-bit PSP put down first.

The PSP is smart enough to only land RPMs that are compatible with the running architecture and will prevent those that are not supported from being deployed. Thus, you only have on your server files that are compatible with the x86_64 version of RHEL4. Simply re-install with the 64-bit PSP and it will pick up any x86_64 specific files that were not part of the 32-bit PSP.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your clarification. Will the server with 32bit PSP upgrade have any issue before I reinstall the 64bit PSP again?

No, the server should have no issues because what was installed from the 32-bit PSP was just the common RPMs that work on both 32-bit and x86_64 versions.
