Linux support for ProLiant DL320 G5 Server
Hi,
I am considering buying a ProLiant DL320 G5 Server. In order to decide I need to find out:
- what kind of hardware can I put in the additional 2 media bay? CD/DVD, External HD
- does it support Redhat Enterprise Server v.5?
- the raid controller that comes with the standard model is supported by the linux version (Redhat Enterprise Server v.5)? OR do I have to use software Raid in order to get it working under linux?
- What is the support for the Integrated NC324i PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter? What is the max MTU?
Regards.

Re: Linux support for ProLiant DL320 G5 Server
Hi Mario,
Please check the quick specs for the DL320 G5 Server from the link below
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12572_div/12572_div.html#Overview
The server supports optional CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, & DVD-RW option kits available
It does support Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
The Raid controller would work for o.s coz the configuration are done at hardware level and you would have to download the softwares from the link below, check under "System Management"
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/1147_6311.html#30
We also see that the NC324i is supported, check "Technical Specification" in quick specs for more info about the nic card..
Hope this information is usefull..
All d best..
