Log off failure

I'm seeking your help! Please!!

Windows 2000 Server is running on Compaq Proliant ML370 G2. Last night, I left the Server with my logon. The Screen Server protect started, and this morning I logged in for this. Then, I tried to log off. However... Dialog box "Saving your settings" appeared and the Server freezed. Until now, the same dialog box is still displayed and I cannot log off, rather it freezes. Pressing ALT+CTRL+Delete does not work.

Badkup Exec Version 8.60 is installed, and probably it was still running when I was trying to log off.

If you have any idea on this problem, please please share your knowledge.

Re: Log off failure

Hi Sasaki,

You'd probably get more replies if you post this to the forum in "IT resource center forums\Microsoft\Windows 2000".

Check if both hardware and software fully patched (i.e. Service Pack, patches, drivers etc).

If you want to investigate which process is hanging while shutting down, you can use Sysinternals.com's PSTool (pslist.exe) and find out what PID is holding it.

If this is helpful, please assign points.

Cheers,

Gus
