Lost password for Systems Management Homepage
A long time ago I installed two 380 G3 and made a hard password for for the SMH. I forgot to write down the password and now I can't remember it.
Is there some way to change the password so I again can log on to SMH???
The server was installed with SmartStart 6.10
any help appreciated
Thank You
Tommy

Re: Lost password for Systems Management Homepage
I understand that if you uninstall Management Agents this will clear pre-existing password.
Then re-install Management agents setting a new password.
Also I have copied below similar scenarios concerning password problems.
Hope this helps,
Ron

Problem Description
Steps for resetting the Web Management Agent Passwords on a Novell Server
Symptoms
Lost or Forgotten Password
Cause
Resolution/Workaround
Login to the server as Administrator
Browse to the Sys:\system\compaq\wbem directory and delete the CPQHMMD.ACL file
Down the server to the dos prompt
Restart the server
The file will be regenerated automatically with the default login ids the primary login id is: administrator password administrator
This has been tested on several servers in the labs
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Problem Description
User configured 2 servers with the latest management drivers.
From his workstation he types http://IPaddress:2301 for server A, clicks on Anonymous, types in administrator for Name and Password.
Login Account displays Administrator.
Where as, he does the same thing for Server B and Login Account displays Anonymous.
But if he types http://IPaddress:2301 from Server B itself he can log in as administrator without a problem.
Also, nothing happens when he clicks on Compaq Survey Utility.
User tried this from many workstations and servers.
Windows 95, 98, NT Workstation & Server, W2K Pro & Server.
Tried it with different versions of Internet Explorer (i.e. 5.0, 5.5 and 6.0)
Same result.
Symptoms
Server's Time is not synchronized correctly with other systems.
Cause
If server B's time is set to 30 days behind the actual time of the monitoring device, it will display Anonymous.
If Server and Monitoring workstation/server time is within 30 days windows it will display Administrator.
It is designed to appear this way for security reasons and is not a bug in the management agents or the browser.
Resolution/Workaround
Set System Time and Date CORRECTLY.
Also, a good idea to clear temporary internet files and clear history of the internet browser of the monitoring system.

Re: Lost password for Systems Management Homepage
Well... now I again have contact to the SMH. And you helped me half the way :-)
I followed your sollution og deleted the cpqhmmd.acl file and then i rebooted the server. When it was up again, I tried to login to the SMH but there i recieved a message that the cpqhmmd.acl file was missing. So it then provided me with different ways to recreate the file. And one of the sollutions was to replicate the file from an other server so i simply copied the file from a server with a known password. So now everything is worling fine again.
Thank you very much for your help.
Best regards
Tommy
