Low SQL 2008 r2 Perfomance on DL380p Gen8 Compared to core i7

We are currently using intel core i7, 8GB server. We recently got a DL380p Gen8 server. We use windows server 2008 R2 64bit and SQL server 2008 r2.

But there is no performance improvement in SQL.

Hi sanji25,

how do you measure the performance on both nodes? Also what CPUs exactly do both systems use? Sometimes higher FSB means a lot compared to multi CPU/multicore/multithread system. Also how much RAM does the 380p has?

If you can list the specs of both servers, I suppose we can make a small comparisson.

Best regards,
Vlad

hi

database performance depends heavily on the number and type of disks. cpu performance and memory cannot compenaste for bottlenecks in the io system.
