M370 P3 single 866 No Post

I recently aquired a ML370 w/ 2 P3-866's and 1 VRM/PPM. The system has 256mb pc-133 reg. ecc. I removed the proc w/o a PPM and attempted to boot the machine.

The fans spool up, the cd spools, the Processor/system power leds are system on, procs off. I get no video, no beep codes and the scsi drives never spool up.

Any assistance or ideas would be appreciated.

Hi,

Make sure the CPU and VRM you have installed are CPU1 and VRM1. Reduce memory to one dimm. Remove any PCI devices.

Set switch 6 on the Maintenance switchpack to on. Power up for 10 seconds and then power back down and put the switch back to the off position. See it it POSTS OK after that. (See the lid (rack model) or sidecover (tower model) for the location of the switchpack)

Another common fault on the ML370G1 is the PCI riser card which can be out of its socket slightly. Make sure it is firmly in place and pushed fully into the system board socket which holds it.

Good luck

Brian
