Re: MIBs required for "HP Smart Array P420/1GB FBWC"
A MIB is not enough. You need some software that monitors the array controller. This software is able to report etc ...
For older proliant servers you need to have the SNMP/WMI agent bundles, for newer models the ILO is monitoring all the hardware.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: MIBs required for "HP Smart Array P420/1GB FBWC"
Normaly people use HP SIM for monitoring hardware, but if you use an other software package you can download the mib updates intended for SIM as this update contains the mibs you probably need. Look at http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c04272529http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c04272529

Re: MIBs required for "HP Smart Array P420/1GB FBWC"
Thanks for the information provided.
After downloading the mibs from the link provided to download the mib updates intended for SIM,we went through the list provided and found that for CPQIDA-MIB, some of the valid types are:
HP Smart Array P600 Controller
HP Smart Array P400 Controller
HP Smart Array P400i Controller
HP Smart Array P800 Controller
But no mib was specifically mentioned for HP Smart Array P420/1GB FBWC.
So,is the mib CPQIDA-MIB suitable for HP Smart Array P420/1GB FBWC?
Thanks and Regards,
Pramita

Re: MIBs required for "HP Smart Array P420/1GB FBWC"
MIBs are included for the following smart array controllers:
sa-5i(19),
sa-532(20),
sa-5312(21),
sa-641(22),
sa-642(23),
sa-6400(24),
sa-6400em(25),
sa-6i(26),
sa-generic(27),
sa-p600(29),
sa-p400(30),
sa-e200(31),
sa-e200i(32),
sa-p400i(33),
sa-p800(34),
sa-e500(35),
sa-p700m(36),
sa-p212(37),
sa-p410(38),
sa-p410i(39),
sa-p411(40),
sa-b110i(41),
sa-p712m(42),
sa-p711m(43),
sa-p812(44),
sw-1210m(45),
sa-p220i(46),
sa-p222(47),
sa-p420(48),
sa-p420i(49),
sa-p421(50),
sa-b320i(51),
sa-p822(52),
sa-p721m(53),
sa-b120i(54),
(taken from the file "cpqida" linked above).
Question remains - what server model?
The MIB is useless without any kind of agent that provides the information.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: MIBs required for "HP Smart Array P420/1GB FBWC"
Hi Torsten,
We are not very sure about the server model being used in the lab. Can you please let us know what are the server models which can be connected to this controller? Is this MIB server-specific or some default MIBs are there for the communication?
Thanks and Regards,
Pramita

Re: MIBs required for "HP Smart Array P420/1GB FBWC"
The question is if the server is a Proliant Gen8 or Gen9 or an ealrlier model - for earlier models you need to run (snmp) agents on the OS, for newer server servers you can monitor all the hardware via ILO.
Consider to monitor all the hardware, not only the RAID controller.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
