Which is the best Mirror setup? Use controller 1 and connect each drive to Primary & Secondary, OR Use channel 1 Primary and channel 2 primary? What will be fastest/better setup? Thanks

Solution
I haven't noticed any difference in performance when mirroring across the 'primary' and 'secondary' as opposed to mirroring both 'primaries'. Since each SATA device gets the full bandwidth of the device connected to the SATA port, it should not make a difference. Since all the ports are on one piece of silicon, there's no real benefit to running your mirror across 'controllers' - if the chip dies, I think both 'controllers' would be affected. I haven't tested to see what would happen if a SATA II device is used on the 'primary' and a SATA I device on the secondary, though, so it's possible that performance might suffer from that. It's not supposed to make any difference, since each port is supposed to be independent.
I usually run my mirrors on adjacent ports (port 0 +1 mirror, port 2+3 mirror).

Re: ML 115 G5 RAID controller channels ?
Thanks. That's what I wanted to know.
