ML 115 - Raid 5 only seeing part of part of array

During Windows Server 2003 setup, the array created with the hardware RAID BIOS configuration is correctly identified by Server 2003 - 2TB - 4 x 750 SATA drives).

However, after Server 2003 is installed to a boot partition of 40-ish Gb, the rest of the array is not usable as extra volumes / partitions: only 8Gb is shown as being usable.

Thius is using the RAID facilities on the motherboard, not a seperate SATA RAID card.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks all

Andy

I've also found this after searching the archive .....

I know the Quickspecs state that the maximum drive size is 4x500GB but has anybody tried a larger drive (such as 750GB or 1TB)?

Just wanted to know if there is a BIOS/Controller limitation?

With Hard Drives being so cheap I just wanted to cram as much storage into the server as possible.

Well if the server you have is the g1 then the limitation her is the controllers that the server supports. They are low end controllers hence storage capacity are not as good as midle high end controllers.

Further to hte above if the RAID sees all 2TB then the controller must be OK at least at the RAID / BIOS level - so investigating W2003 64 bit server issues now!

All further suggestions welcome

Best to all
