ML 330 G3 RAID controller

I'm trying to setup my proliant ml330 g3 with windows small business server 2003. It says that it can't detect any hard disks. So I used a smart start cd. And it then tells me that there are no supported controllers installed for windows server 2003. I've tried to get the correct controller off of the HP website, but that does not help at all. Anybody know what I can do to get this thing to work?

Re: ML 330 G3 RAID controller

Take a look at the quick specs. It should have at least a built in ATA controller or a PCI card SCSI controller.

You need to provide some more details. Did you look at the hardware? What is installed? disk controllers, disks, internal disk wiring?

Several other options are available.

Where did you look or did you buy something already?

Re: ML 330 G3 RAID controller

Yeah, It's got an ATA controller built in, but the smart start CD says only Novell Netware and Microsoft Windows 2000 support that controller.

I've got 4 harddrives (2x 80gig drives and 2x 500gig drives) that are setup in a RAID 1+0 Array.

It seems from the smartstart CD that I basically just need to find a controller that supports Microsoft Windows Server 2003.

I looked at the support and driver page for the ML330 G3 for controllers and there are a lot that can be downloaded. But I couldn't get any of them to work.

A little bit of a back story on this, the IT people that had originally setup this are no longer around. They set it up really strange, and somehow were able to get Windows Small Business Server 2003 Installed on it. We have a new server now and it works fine. But we wanted to reformat this one to use as a backup just incase we need it someday. So we tried installing and we can't figure out how to get a controller that supports Windows SBS2003. Hopefully that helps you out a little more.

Have you tried the win2000 driver while installing win2003?

Re: ML 330 G3 RAID controller

Yeah, it will load the setup files and then say it cannot detect any hard disks.

Re: ML 330 G3 RAID controller

Check if the latest smartstart CD has anything different.

Also browse inside the Smartstart CD for additional drivers as in here

If all else fails look for OEM drivers. Find out what make is the embedded SATA raid controller and try some drivers from the OEM site. As for example in
