Re: ML 350 G4 fan noise

Also, do you have any other ML350 G4s or is this the only one you have?
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..

Re: ML 350 G4 fan noise

The only one.
HP tech support said that it is not defective, it just the way it works. They can replace it but it is not get any quieter.
We going to relocate it to the far corner and separate it with a divider.

Re: ML 350 G4 fan noise

Read & digest, my company bought 130 of these servers 11/04, since then approx 30 have failed due to heatsink overheating & system re-booting. The solution from HP is a replacement heatsink & processor. HP have been aware of our problem since 11/04 & no history of this issue with any other customers. We have recently sent 2 servers to HP HQ for investigation.

Re: ML 350 G4 fan noise

Try the following a very simple test - boot the server of the smart start cd -

The fans at post will run at full speed when the smart start loads and health and management drivers are loaded the fans should drop down in speed - If they do the problem is software more than likely need to update the psp to 7.30, update the bios of the server.

Re: ML 350 G4 fan noise

booting smart start does NOT lower fan speed either..
