ML 370 G2 memory configuration

This is probably just a goof on my part. My ML370 has 2 different types of memory. Compaq and Kingston. If you place only 2-512 compaq memory in the server it counts 1024. If you place 2-512 kingston memory in the server it counts 512. This is on post. Can you explain this please?

Re: ML 370 G2 memory configuration

you have other system, server to test Kingston ?

if one module faulty, it populate bank, however it can't be seen correctly, just one of 2 counted

in other view Kingston is third party is not always successful

Re: ML 370 G2 memory configuration

I have multiple systems and multiple kingston memory. Any system with kingston memory in a bank counts the memory as 512. The compaq memory counts it as 1024. If this is ECC memory wouldn't the 512 count be correct? Why am I getting 2 different counts?

Re: ML 370 G2 memory configuration

I did a google search on the kingston memory chips. What I thought I would find would be that the chips are for a 512mb simm. Actually they are for a 256mb simm. Thus 2 simms would equal 512mb. My goof after all.
