ML 370 G4 ProLiant boots into Diagnostic Utility and keyboard not responding
Hi
I have a ProLiant ML370 G4 not completing POST. I get;
- Black screen with blinking cursor
- A white HP Invent splash screen
- quick black screen
- and then boots into Diagnostic Utility and does not allow keyboard input
Have tried 4 different keyboards including a USB one
have tried putting switch 6 on system board to 'on' to clear NVRAM, powering on for 15 seconds, powering off, putting switch back to off and powering on again with no luck.
Also tried reseating RAM (2 of 512 megs)
Please help
P.S. This thread has been moved from ITRC ProLiant Deployment & Provisioning Forum to ProLiant Servers (ML,DL,SL).

Re: ML 370 G4 ProLiant boots into Diagnostic Utility and keyboard not responding
Hi,
Remove any external USB storage devices including memory stick.
Remove any Add-On cards from the PCI Slots.
Boot the server with bare minimum configuration.
Thank You!

Re: ML 370 G4 ProLiant boots into Diagnostic Utility and keyboard not responding
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
There are NO USB Storage devices attached and no memory sticks.
The only PCI Card is a Smart array 641 U320 Controller which was removed but server still booted into diagnostic utility.
Even removing battery from motherboard for 15 mins and replacing it does not make any difference.
Have run out of ideas.

Re: ML 370 G4 ProLiant boots into Diagnostic Utility and keyboard not responding
Hi,
When the server boots into Diagnostic Utility, does it perform any diagnosis?
Let it perform diagnosis and see if any HW has failed.
Thank You!

Re: ML 370 G4 ProLiant boots into Diagnostic Utility and keyboard not responding
No diagnostics at all.
Just get the screen with the 3 options to test CPU memory etc and does not allow any keyboard input.
(Have tried 5 different keyboards, USB as well as PS2)

Apparently in this case flashing the BIOS has worked for a G5, but not on my G4:
